Xcel Energy’s 14th Annual Day of Service

Volunteers recently came together in Red Wing to support two nonprofits as part of Xcel Energy’s 14th annual Day of Service.

At Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, volunteers helped to construct twin homes, contributing to tasks such as framing, roofing, siding, interior finishing and landscaping.

The work will advance Habitat for Humanity’s mission to positively support communities and provide affordable housing.

Meanwhile, volunteers assisted the Red Wing Environmental Learning Center with seasonal cleaning, organizing and improvements that will support the center’s programming.

The Environmental Learning Center aims to enhance the community’s understanding and appreciation of the outdoors through experiential and adventure-based programs.

The annual volunteer event provides an opportunity for Xcel Energy employees and members of the community to contribute to local projects that benefit nonprofits and the larger community.

Day of Service was created as a tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of 9/11, as well as all those who work to keep communities and the country safe.
