
A Wabasha woman is confessing to stealing more than three million dollars from her Rochester area employer.
Sharon Schmalzriedt accepted a plea deal yesterday in Wabasha County Court.
The former company bookkeeper pled guilty to felony theft.
Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of five years of supervised probation.
Schmalzriedt worked for a Lewiston company remotely from Wabasha doing bookkeeping, payroll and accounts payable.
The 61-year old Schmalzriedt admitted to taking the money while she was being financially exploited during an online romantic scheme.
Her sentencing date is on June 25.
