The Wabasha County Sheriffs Office reports that recently several rural residents have received emails pretending to know some really personal stuff about them.
The scam emails that the Sheriffs Office have seen look identical but went to two different households.
They start out by letting them know their full name and where they live and that they have attached malware to their computer to find out what they have been looking at and for a ransom, $1,950 in this case, they will forget what they found.
Contact the Sheriff's Office at (651) 565-3361Â if you receive an email like this.
