Wabasha County Sheriff Medicare Email Scam

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of an email scam targeting Medicare recipients.

Scammers are sending fraudulent emails that appear to be from Blue Cross Blue Shield, offering a free Medicare kit.

The promise of free Medicare kit is designed to trick unsuspecting victims into clicking on the link in the email.

Once they click on the link, they are then taken to a series of fake surveys.

These surveys collect their personal information, which can be used for identity theft or other malicious purposes. Buried deep within the terms and conditions of these surveys are hidden subscription charges.

These charges can be substantial and are not disclosed upfront.

The Sheriff’s Office says if you receive this email it IS a scam and please, be cautious and do not click on the link.
