Wabasha County Jail Sergeant Susan Hoekstra was presented with Minnesota Sheriff’s Association Supervisor of the year award last week at the Mn Sheriff’s Association Jail Administrator’s Conference.
There were many reasons why Sgt. Hoekstra was nominated by her Jail Administrator but a few of the key points were two different use of force situations that Susan dealt with along with her team.
The most dangerous one was an adult male, 6’ 2” close to 275 pounds that came out of his cell putting a head lock on Sgt. Hoekstra. She was able to take him down and gain control with the assistance of another staff member.
