Train vs Car Collision

According to the Red Wing Police Department, a vehicle and train collided in the vicinity of the 400 block of Levee Road yesterday morning.

The vehicle was not occupied at the time of the crash, and no injuries were reported.

A pedestrian flagged down an on-patrol Patrol Sergeant to report a vehicle on the train tracks around 10:35 am. Within seconds of the report being made, a train passing through the area collided with the vehicle, a 2013 Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old woman, had exited the vehicle prior to the crash and reported that she had intended to turn onto Levee Road from Broad Street but had not paid attention and accidentally drove down the tracks.

CP Rail and the CP Rail Police responded. The train and vehicle were cleared at 12:39 pm., and the area was reopened.
