The Wild scored a go-ahead goal in the third period to take down the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 at United Center. Jacob Lucchini got the scoring started with a goal late in the first for Minnesota, but the Blackhawks tied the game in the second when Nick Foligno lit the lamp. However, the Wild went on top for good with a Marcus Foligno score in the middle of the third period. Minnesota has won four of six, and the Wild are tied for sixth place in the Central Division with 49 points and a 22-23-and-5 record. They host Pittsburgh tomorrow night.

The Timberwolves are staying active prior to the NBA trade deadline. ESPN reports that Minnesota acquired guard Monte Morris in a deal that will send Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr., and a 2030 second-round draft pick to Detroit. The 28-year-old Morris missed the first 43 games of this season due to a right quad injury. He is in the final year of a three-year, 27.7-million dollar deal and will add valuable back-court depth to a strong Minnesota squad. The Timberwolves visit Milwaukee tonight.

The Twins are shaking up their 40-man roster. The team officially announced the weekend signings of first baseman Carlos Santana and reliever Jay Jackson yesterday. Additionally, Minnesota claimed right-handed relief pitcher Zack Weiss off waivers from Boston. To make room for the three new players, Minnesota designated outfielder Bubba Thompson and relievers Jordan Balazovic and Daniel Duarte for assignment. Twins pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training next week.

Number-9 Wisconsin is now 16-and-7 on the college basketball season after a 72-68 loss to Michigan. The Badgers visit Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. Elsewhere, the Milwaukee Panthers are 12-and-11 and visit Youngstown State tonight. Number-7 Marquette is 17-and-5 and hosts St. John's on Saturday night.

The Brewers have added a power bat to their lineup. The New York Post reports that Gary Sanchez has agreed to a one-year, seven-million-dollar contract to join the Brew Crew next season. The catcher hit .218 with 19 home runs in 72 games with the Padres last season. Sanchez is a .225 hitter with 173 home runs over his nine-year career.
