SE Minnesota Bear Sightings

The Minnesota DNR reports a big increase in black bear sightings in SE Minnesota the past several weeks.

The DNR says Minnesota’s black bear range has been slowly expanding southward and westward.

There have been over 2 dozen recent sightings in Wabasha, Winona, and Olmsted Counties, with sightings in NE and NW Rochester.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office reported a bear was spotted in the Plainview area near the golf course June 1st. Their advice is keep a special watch on your outdoor pets and garbage cans and keep everything as clean and secure as possible. The DNR says to report any bear sightings to them online at https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/.
