The Red Wing School Board approved both Policy 504, which outlines student dress and appearance, and the 2023-2024 Student and Parent Handbook at the September 5th meeting.
A couple of board members wanted a detailed list of what students cannot wear, but the more general guidelines as recommended by the Minnesota School Boards Association ultimately passed.
The student dress and appearance policy will be in place for one year.
Administrators will track any disciplinary measures related to student dress, and the board will review that data next summer.
The board will next meet Monday, September 18th, at 5 pm for a workshop, followed by a regular meeting.
