Red Wing Police Department April TZD Campaign

The Red Wing Police Department is reminding folks that there will be extra patrols participating in an education campaign in support of the Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program this month.

Assistant Police Chief, Brian Metling, says they will be watching out for distracted driving, including cell phone use, tailgating, and speeding.

Police Chief, Nick Sather, says one big push is to look for impaired drivers.

He says just because pot is now legal in Minnesota, that doesn’t mean you should get behind the wheel after consuming it in any form.

The leading cause of traffic-related deaths and severe injuries in southeast Minnesota include:

❖ Lack of Seat Belt Use  ❖ Speed and Aggressive Driving  ❖ Alcohol.
