The investigation of a death of an unidentified woman this past weekend in Red Wing continues.
Sunday at 5:58 pm the Red Wing Police Department responded to an incident at 1052 Putnam Avenue involving a suicidal male party with a handgun.
After negotiations over several hours, 41-year old Darryl Dion Nixon Jr. ultimately exited the residence and was taken into custody.
A deceased female was found inside the residence.
Nixon Jr. is charged with 2nd degree murder charge and is being held in the Goodhue County Jail. He will make an initial appearance in Goodhue County District Court today.
The deceased woman was taken to the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Rochester for autopsy and formal identification. The autopsy is scheduled for today.
