Red Wing may be famous for its flower baskets, but each summer, downtown flower planters garner their fair share of attention, too.
As pretty as they can be, though, they've also drawn concerns about pedestrian sight lines.
The Red Wing City Council has directed several of those planters to be removed over the course of the next year.
The four largest planters at the pedestrian crossing mid-block on West Third Street are being removed prior to the planting season and will be put into storage.
Eleven other planters along Highway 61 will be relocated, planted with flowers ordered for the 2025 season, and then placed into storage in the fall.
