Following a presentation by Tim Sletten, representing the Red Wing Pickleball group, the Red Wing City Council Monday approved commiting to funding the remainder 25% of the project cost to build 6 new pickleball courts at Colvill Park.
Sletten told the council the group has private commitments of $177,000 toward the total estimated cost of, $400,000, with the goal of raising 75% of the projects cost.
Council member Becky Norton, supported helping the group out and says it will bring another great activity for the community to participate in.
The City’s application for a MN DNR Outdoor Recreation grant that would have paid for a large portion of the courts cost was turned down but they plan on applying again next spring.
