Red Wing Basement Fire




The Red Wing Fire Department was dispatched Sunday at 7:53 pm to a report of smoke coming from a clothes dryer in the basement of a residence in the 900 block of East Ave in Red Wing.


Fire department personnel arrived on the scene within 3 minutes of receiving the call and found heavy smoke filling the basement of the home.


Crews confirmed all occupants were out of the home and made entry to locate and extinguish the fire.


The bulk of the fire was out within 10 minutes of arrival however crews spent a significant amount of time overhauling and searching for hot spots.


One occupant was evaluated by paramedics on the scene and was treated and released. The residence sustained significant damage to the living area of the home. The home was left unhabitable.


The cause of the fire is under investigation.


Mutual aid assistance was provided on scene by Ellsworth Fire and Miesville Fire. Goodhue Fire and Ellsworth Ambulance provided coverage to the city. Red Wing Police Department, Red Wing Public Works, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers, and Xcel Energy also assisted with this incident.
