Plainview High School’s 2006 All-School Reunion Committee recently donated $2,700 to the newly formed again, PEM High School’s marching band.
The donation was made possible from leftover reunion funds, raised through a breakfast tent, concessions and such.
According to the Plainview News, the money will help PEM pay for new equipment or uniforms, so the band can continue to march in style.
“By donating this money we can affect the whole community. Everybody can enjoy it,” committee member Bev Pille said. “We’re pleased.”
The donation closes out the committee, which included Bev, Julie and Joel Eggenberger, Janet Schultz, Jamie Miller, Darlene Stephen, Kathy Evans, the late Joe Purvis and Jean Feils; and other volunteers who stepped forward and helped.
Around 2,000 to 2,500 people - including some former Plainview marching band members, who sweated in wool uniforms back in the day - attended the reunion in the final year of Plainview High School before the Gophers merged with the Watchmen of Elgin-Millville High.
