Mississippi River Flooding Forecast




As water in the Mississippi River continues to rise, more flooding is expected in the next several days.


According to the National Weather Service, the river at Hastings below Lock and Dam 2 was at major flood stage of 18.01 feet as of Thursday at noon and is expected to crest at 20.1 feet by Sunday morning.

 

Red Wing’s measurement stood at 14.35 feet as of Thursday and is forecast to reach moderate flood level of 15 feet by Saturday morning with the crest of 15.8 feet by Monday morning. Major flood stage is 16 feet.

 

The river at Lake City was at minor flood stage of 16.12 feet as of Thursday and is expected to crest at 17.2 feet by Monday morning. Moderate flooding occurs at 18 feet.


Wabasha is now experiencing moderate flooding, measured at 14.07 feet as of Thursday and the river is forecast to rise to 14.8 feet by Sunday. Major flooding occurs at 16 feet.
