Minnesota 4-H State Fair Results




Hundreds of Minnesota 4-Hers spend their summer evenings looking at dairy heifers and cows determining the best reason to place one animal over another. 


Experience in judging livestock helps a participant select future projects and replacements for their own herd ventures.


The Plainview News reports 55 individuals and 15 teams participated in the Minnesota State Fair Intermediate competition this year.


Wabasha County placed first with a total of 998 points. Goodhue County placed second with 982 total points. The team from Rice/Le Sueur County finished in third with 978 total points.


Lyza Tveten of Winona County took home the high individual honors and Molly Albers of Rice/Le Sueur County placed second.


Ashley Mellgren of Wabasha County placed third overall. In fourth place was Emily Mellgren of Wabasha County, and in fifth place was Sidney Brown from Wabasha County. Places were determined off of the tie-breakers.


In the reasons portion, the top team was Wabasha County. In second was Winona County and Stearns County took third.


The top individual in reasons was Lyza Tveten of Winona County. Ashley Mellgren of Wabasha County took second and in third, Emily Mellgren from Wabasha County.
