As the popularity of electric bikes, e-scooters, and other devices usually powered by lithium-ion batteries, grows so do the warnings to use them in a safe manner.
Red Wing Fire Chief, Mike Warner, says everything from laptops, smart phones, smoke alarms, e-cigarettes, and even cars, often run on lithium-ion batteries and he has seveal safety tips to keep in mind.
Other safety tips to follow when using devices that use lithium-ion batteries, keep batteries at room temperature, do not charge a device under your pillow, on your bed or on a couch, and do not place batteries in direct sunlight or keep them in hot vehicles.
Warner says don’t put lithium-ion batteries in the trash, recycling is always the best option.
