Hope and Harbor Homeless Shelter Grant

A local non-profit that provides shelter for adult Goodhue County residents experiencing homelessness recently received a large grant that will enable them to expand their services.

Hope and Harbor Homeless Shelter is open all week long during the months of November through March, rotating locations at local churches. They open daily at 6 pm and guests leave the next morning at 7:30 am.

Executive Director, Liz Magill, says, the quarter-million dollar grant from South Country Health Alliance means they can open a day center available to others in addition to the county’s homeless, who can use help finding specific answers for important questions about basic needs in one location.

Magill says they plan to partner with local non-profits to provide one stop shopping for community resources for physical and mental health, transportation, housing, food, employment, and more.

This past season Hope and Harbor served 47 unduplicated guests this season. They were open 116 nights and offered 813 duplicated nights of care.
