Section 1A Championship: Goodhue 52 Fillmore Central 7
The Wildcats rolled over the Falcons Friday night at KM Telecom Stadium in Kasson to capture the Section 1A championship.
Goodhue led 14-0 after the first quarter and 35-0 at the half. The Wildcats were up 45-7 after three quarters and added one touchdown in the fourth quarter to close out the win.
Nate Beck rushed for 164 yards and had touchdown runs of 58 and 44 yards. Jack Carlson rushed for 92 yards and had three short touchdown runs for the Wildcats. Goodhue's other scores came on a four yard touchdown pass from Luke Roschen to Henry Caswell and a 58 yard combination interception by Luke Roschen who lateralled the ball to Payton Holst who took it the final 40 yards for a score. Christian Monjarez added a 26 yard field goal and was 7-7 on PATs.
Goodhue had 390 total yards with 313 of those yards on the ground. Fillmore Central was held to 162 total yards and only 23 yards rushing. Goodhue had four interceptions and recovered a fumble.
The Wildcats are 11-0 and will play in the Class A State quarterfinals either Thursday, November 7th at 7pm at Mayo High School or Friday, November 8th at 5:30pm on KWNG 106.
The pairings for the state football tournament will be announde later today.
