BOYS BASKETBALL:
The Lake City Tigers rallied from a five point deficit in the final minute to eventually earn a 72-61 overtime win over the Pelican Rapids Vikings in the State Class AA quarterfinals at Target Center.
Lake city trailed 58-53 with a minute left in regulation but Hunter Lorenson scored the final seven points for the Tigers in that final minute, including two free throws with 15 seconds left to tie the game at 60 and force overtime.
Pelican Rapids scored their only point in overtime on a free throw before Lake City scored 12 straight points in overtime to put the game away.
Hunter Lorenson led the Tigers with 19 points. Jaden Shones added 15. Keegan Ryan had 14 points and 10 rebounds while Riley Fick had 10 points and 16 rebounds. Timmy Guler led Pelican Rapids (24-6) with 18 points before fouling out in the final seconds of regulation.
Lake City had eight blocked shots defensively and outrebounded Pelican Rapids 41-30 in the contest.
#3 seed Lake City (25-5) faces #2 seed Albany (29-2) in the State Class AA semi-finals Friday at Williams Arena with the pre-game show at 7:45pm and the tip-off at 8pm on Lake Hits 95 and on-line at www.lakehits95.com.
