MSHSL Section Assignments are revealed!


The Minnesota State High School League Section Assignments are out for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years and there some big time changes that will affect a number of our area schools.


*Goodhue moves up to 1AA in girls and boys basketball while Red Wing move down to 1AA. Goodhue, Red Wing, Lake City and PEM (the four schools we broadcast) are all now in Section 1AA.


*Goodhue is now in Section 4AA for football with Cannon Falls, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Central Area Public, Randolph, Maple Lake and Rush City.


*Stewartville departs Section 1AAA football and heads to Section 1AAAA. Section 1AAA now consists of La Crescent, Pine Island, Winona Cotter, PEM, Lake City, Red Wing and Zumbrota-Mazeppa.


*Wabasha-Kellogg goes from Section 1A to Class A Nine man football.


*Goodhue moves up to Section 1AA and Red Wing moves down to Section 1AA to join Lake City, PEM and other schools in volleyball, baseball and softball.


*Red Wing stays in Section 1A in girls and boys hockey (no surprise). Section 1A girls hockey goes from five to teams to six teams (Albert Lea, Austin, State champ Dodge County, Waseca, Simley and Red Wing) while Section 1A boys hockey goes from 11 teams to nine teams (Albert Lea, Faribault, Dodge County, La Crescent, Northfield, Rochester Lourdes, Waseca, Winona and Red Wing).


Buckle up for some intriguing matchups the next couple of years as schools juggle their conference schedules with mixing in key section games.
