Motorists who use Withers Harbor Drive will need to find alternate routes in Red Wing beginning Tuesday, April 4 as construction crews prepare the Highway 61 bridge for traffic changes that are part of the bridge replacement project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The work will be taking place under the bridge, which will close Withers Harbor Drive to through traffic during the week and reopen on Friday, April 7. However, motorists will be able to reach destinations there by using alternate routes.
The closure of Withers Harbor Drive to through traffic will continue again on Monday, April 10 and continue until the work is completed. An additional closure will occur on Monday, April 24 for bridge demolition.
A MnDOT contractor is scheduled to begin construction April 17 to replace the two bridges at Withers Harbor Drive in Red Wing. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
During the project, crews will: Replace the Hwy 61 bridges over Withers Harbor Dr. and Hay Creek in Red Wing and reconstruct the approaches to the bridge from Bench St. to Withers Harbor Dr. and make other road improvements.
