The Goodhue City Council held an emergency meeting Monday night to address the sudden resignation of their entire Police force.
Mayor Ellen Anderson Buck says city is reaching out to the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office to fill in for now. As of August 24th the city won’t have any officers after Police Chief Josh Smith resigned, along with another full-time officer, and five part-time officers who quit this week.
Buck says the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office will handle current investigations being conducted by the city's police department.
Compensation and recruitment of new officers were two reasons listed by the resigning officers.
