As of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Xcel Energy had resolved the gas leak on Woodland Drive that was reported yesterday. Upon arrival, the Fire Department found that a contractor hit a natural gas line.
While investigating, it was determined there were additional leaks within the construction area. Xcel was contacted and arrived on scene.
Residences nearby were checked, and no unsafe conditions were detected inside any residence.
The Red Wing Fire Department remained on scene until Xcel Energy determined that the situation was safe. There is no remaining threat.
The Red Wing Fire Department reminds residents that they should call 911 if they ever smell natural gas inside their residence.
