First Tow 2024

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, locked the Motor Vessel Joseph Patrick Eckstein with 12 loads  through Lock and Dam 3 near Welch Saturday at 7:45 pm, en route to St. Paul.

The lockage marks the unofficial start to the 2024 Upper Mississippi River navigation season.

Lake Pepin is the last major barrier for vessels reaching the head of the navigation channel in St. Paul.
