Expanded Amtrak Service Red Wing Stop

Minnesota, including Red Wing, and Wisconsin are getting more Amtrak service.

Amtrak has announced new train service between Chicago and Minneapolis-St. Paul.

The Amtrak Borealis trains will begin daily, round-trip service on Tuesday, May 21 and run from Union Depot in Saint Paul to Union Station in Chicago, doubling the capacity for rail travel between the two cities.

Amtrak Borealis trains will make additional Minnesota-area stops in Red Wing, Winona, and La Crosse.

That means two trains each day that will connect Milwaukee, Columbus, Portage, the Wisconsin Dells, Tomah, and La Crosse.

One train will leave from Milwaukee in the morning, and the other will leave from the Twin Cities during the middle of the day.

Amtrak Borealis coach fares start at $41 each way between St. Paul and Chicago for adults, with everyday discounts for children ages 2-12, students, seniors, veterans, military personnel and families, groups, and others.
