Elgin Mayor Passes Away

The City of Elgin has announced the passing of Mayor Tim Boardman.

Boardman, who easily won reelection last November, was 49 years old.

The Facebook post announcing his death, reads, in part, “Mayor Boardman dedicated his life to serving the Elgin community with "passion, integrity, and unwavering commitment."

“Mayor Boardman was not just a leader, but a friend and a guiding light for so many of us. His legacy of kindness, vision, and public service will live on in every corner of our community.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Prior to being elected mayor in 2022, Boardman served for six years on the Elgin City Council.
