American Red Cross Emergency Volunteers

When you think of the American Red Cross you most likely think of blood donations but they provide many other emergency services.

Melanie Tschida, Executive Director, American Red Cross Southern Minnesota, says trained volunteers play a key role after a person loses their home due to a flood or fire.

Tchida says people often find it difficult to know what to do first after the loss of a home and volunteers help with that as well.

Tschida says they are always in need of volunteers and blood donations.

Wednesday, March 15th there’s a blood drive at Treasure Island Resort & Casino from 1 pm -7 pm, Thursday the 16th from 1-7 pm they will be collecting blood at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.

Friday, March 17th you can give blood at the Goodhue High School from 9 am -2 pm and on Friday the 24th, at Cornerstone Community Church in Red Wing from 9 am – 2 pm.

To volunteer or to schedule a blood donation, go online to https://www.redcrossblood.org/ and enter your zip code to see the closest blood drive or Red Cross location.
