A state agency is reminding Minnesotans who live in the 507 area code that they will soon need to dial all ten digits when they make a call.
The Minnesota Public Utilities Commission says local calls can be made using seven or ten digits beginning today.
On July 30th, all local calls must use the area code and the phone number to be connected.
The 507 area code is located in southern Minnesota and covers southern Wabasha County, including Zumbrota, Mazeppa, Pine Island, Millville, Plainview, and Elgin, as well as Winona, Dakota, Olmsted, and Rice Counties.
The new 924 area code will go into use in the southern Minnesota region on August 30th.
