Goodhue County and partners are getting close to kicking off the 2025 Mighty Mississippi Clean Up Challenge, between April 15th and May 15th.
Join the City of Red Wing, Goodhue County, Prairie Island Indian Community, and the Honoring Dakota Project as they challenge cities and counties to clean up the Mighty Mississippi River and do our part to keep the river clean.
Three years ago, Goodhue County Commissioner Linda Flanders helped produce a “Mighty Mississippi Cleanup” effort at Co. Rd. 18 and Sturgeon Lake Road after complaints from Welch residents.
Two local events will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Garbage bags and vests will be provided; participants must wear gloves and sturdy shoes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Location 1 in Welch at Sturgeon Lake Road and County Road 18 (off the Vermillion River) and the 2nd, in Red Wing at the base of He Mni Can-Barn Bluff.
